Toward Artificial Palpation Representation Learning of Touch on Soft Bodies

We are proud to see outstanding research that involved MRI scans performed at the May-Blum-Dahl Technion Human MRI Research Center published in hashtag#NeurIPS2025, one of the leading international conferences in Artificial Intelligence.
The work, led by Prof. Aviv Tamar’s lab in close collaboration with Dr. Efrat Shimron, presents a fascinating proof-of-concept combining robotic palpation, tactile sensing, and MRI to learn clinically meaningful representations of soft tissue.
As part of this project, breast phantoms were scanned at our center, providing high-quality MRI data that enabled the integration of physical sensing and advanced AI methods.
Congratulations to the entire team on this innovative work and high-impact publication!
We are happy to support research at the interface of engineering, AI, and medical imaging, and to see such work reach top-tier venues!

Can we use tactile sensors for soft object imaging?🤔
